Samsung is developing a third Note 10 model, a Lite version. What does this smartphone with stylus pen look like and what functions does it get?
amsung chose this year not to release one Galaxy Note, but two new Note models. However, it seems strong that we may soon expect a third model. In addition to the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ launched halfway this year , there is also a Note 10 Lite coming up. Although this device has been talked about for months, it has become clear that this phone is actually being made. It will be a cheaper model, with a less powerful processor and less memory.
Earlier this week, the American inspection body certified the FCCthe stylus pen of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite. This shows that the new smartphone will have an S Pen with Bluetooth functionality, just like the other two Note 10 smartphones.
In addition, this morning GSMArena was able to retrieve a Geekbench test from a Samsung smartphone with model name SM-N770F. This is probably the Note10 Lite. The benchmark shows that the device is powered by a 1.79Ghz octa-core Exynos 9810 chipset with 6GB of RAM. This is the same SoC that was also used in the Note 9 last year .
The name ‘Lite’ will therefore mean, among other things, that the device will have a less powerful processor and less memory than its larger brothers. The benchmark test also showed that the phone will run on the new Android 10 operating system.
For the time being it is unclear when Samsung will introduce the Lite variant, probably this will take some time. In fact, there is a real chance that the Samsung Galaxy S11 will be introduced earlier, this device is expected in February 2020. In addition to a Note 10 Lite, a Galaxy S10 Lite is also expected. Remarkably enough, there is as yet no information available about the design of the new Note.
LetsGoDigital went looking for a patent and discovered a Samsung Galaxy smartphone with a lot of similarities with the Note 10 (Plus) introduced earlier this year. Nevertheless, there are also a number of clear differences.
New design for Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone
This is a design patent that was very recently applied for on 26 September 2019 from the Brazilian patent office called the Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial (INPI). This agency is now known among gamers, because Sony recently had the design of the much-discussed Sony PlayStation 5 Dev Kit captured by the same body . The Samsung Electronics patent was published on October 15, 2019, with eight images included.
In order to make a good comparison with the current Galaxy Note 10, we also conjured up that patent. We start with the top. What is immediately noticeable is that the small oval opening, which functions as a speaker and is located directly next to the SIM compartment, cannot be found on the new images (No. 1 on the image below).
That is not the only difference that we see at the top. This mysterious Note also has a power button (2). This button cannot be found on current devices. You can use the button on the left instead, which is combined with Bixby. By keeping the button pressed for a long time, the Bixby speech assistant is called, otherwise you will see the on / off menu. Alternatively, the Note10 also has an on / off icon on the screen. The receiver has also been given a different shape (3), this is a bit higher in shape and also a bit less wide.
Then we come to the rear. Here too we see a slightly different camera system (4). The lower lens is clearly designed differently. With the Note 10, the lower one is the telephoto lens, this also seems to be the case with the Lite model, but it is possible that a different camera is used. The Depth Vision camera (the two smaller circles to the right of the camera system) are also designed slightly differently; a kind of connecting element has been added.
If we look at the side, it can be clearly seen that the buttons are also integrated in a different way (5). These are placed in one straight line with the narrow frame, while with the Note 10 a small extra recess has been made in the frame, in order to make the buttons slightly wider. The redesigned buttons have the exact same length, but have a thinner design.
It is not yet possible to say with certainty whether this is indeed the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite. Finally, the Note10 and 10+ only differ in size, the button structure is identical. It is therefore also possible that Samsung has simply laid down an alternative design that will never be used. Yet we found the design changes so remarkable that we have to inform you of this. The time will tell what Samsung’s choice will be.
